Retainer Instructions
Essix retainers:
- You will need to wear your essix retainer every night!
- If there are any sharp spots that are rubbing on your cheek, take a nail file and file them away.
- Be sure to not bite your retainer into place. Use your fingers to take it in and out.
- Rinse your retainer in the morning when you take it out. Brush, using your toothbrush in warm not hot water.
- These are plastic so keep away from heat at all times (Curling irons, boiling water, hot water, hot car dashboards, pockets, the washing machine, and napkins.)
- Do not soak the retainer in mouthwash or rubbing alcohol. It will become brittle and break. After time, you may need to soak it in Efferdent denture cleaner, retainer cleaner, or 1/2 part water with 1/2 part vinegar.
- Keep this retainer in your retainer case when it is not in your mouth. Pets love to chew on them!
- Retainers are breakable, so treat yours with care. If your retainer get lose or broken, call us immediately!
- If you have any questions or concerns about your retainer, or you believe it needs adjusting, call us. Do not try to adjust it yourself.
- Always bring your retainer to your appointments.
- Retainer replacements are expensive, but with proper care they will last for years!
- Remove your retainer when you go swimming.
Hawley retainer Instructions:
- You will Wear this retainer day and night.
- Take this our when you eat and brush your teeth.
- Rinse it off in the morning when you take it out, you may also brush it with your tooth brush and toothpast and some warm (not hot) water.
- Keep this retainer in your retainer case when it is not in your mouth. Pets love to chew on them!
- Retainers are breakable, so treat yours with care. If your retainer get lose or broken, call us immediately!
- If you have any questions or concerns about your retainer, or you believe it needs adjusting, call us. Do not try to adjust it yourself.
- Always bring your retainer to your appointments.
